Barnaby Collier

Associate

Barnaby has some some 15 years’ experience in education, working across the sector from primary schools through to higher education institutions. His wider work includes projects in central government departments, executive agencies, trading funds and other NDPBs.

A highly engaging communicator, leader and advisor, Barnaby thrives on working alongside a wide range of people to enable them to achieve outstanding results. Barnaby has deep experience of change leadership and management, organisational design, programme and project management, governance and business development.

A former member of PKF and BDO’s education and public sector teams, Barnaby provided comprehensive programme management leadership to some 25 projects within the Department for Education’s Academies and Free Schools programmes, covering primary, secondary and further education institutions. He led multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the schools opened on time, to budget and with all the necessary legal arrangements in place.

More recently, Barnaby’s work has expanded to include Higher Education, with a focus on improving the effectiveness of their non-academic functions and developing income-diversification strategies in an increasingly competitive HE market place.

Further, Barnaby is Chair of Governors for the Big Creative Academy, a 16 –19 Free School in London that opened in 2014. The school achieved a ‘Good’ rating in its recent Ofsted inspection. This role provides Barnaby with excellent insight into the strategic challenges faced by schools, coupled to practical knowledge of how to engage with a wide range of senior stakeholders to provide effective oversight of a growing school.

Barnaby has a BSc in Geography and is a PRINCE 2 Practitioner.
